Base pay range
$100,000.00/yr - $130,000.00/yr
General Summary:
The staff pharmacist is responsible for preparing, dispensing, and overseeing medications to ensure patient safety and efficacy. They provide pharmaceutical care, including counseling patients on the proper use of medications, monitoring drug interactions, and collaborating with healthcare providers to optimize patient outcomes by leveraging their extensive education and Kessler’s Core Values.
Key Responsibilities
1.Medication Dispensing:
oAccurately prepare and dispense prescriptions, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
oVerify prescriptions and review patient medication histories for potential drug interactions and contraindications.
2.Patient Care:
oCounsel patients on the proper use, storage, and potential side effects of medications.
oProvide advice on over-the-counter medications and other health-related products.
oMonitor patient responses to medications and make recommendations for adjustments as necessary.
3.Clinical Services:
oConduct medication therapy management (MTM) and comprehensive medication reviews (CMR).
oCollaborate with healthcare providers to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
4.Regulatory Compliance:
oEnsure adherence to all state and federal regulations governing pharmacy practice.
oMaintain accurate records of all transactions and inventory, including controlled substances.
oStay updated on new drug approvals, recalls, and changes in legislation affecting pharmacy practice.
5.Operational Duties:
oManage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, stocking, and monitoring expiration dates.
oSupervise and train pharmacy technicians and support staff when needed.
oImplement and adhere to pharmacy policies and procedures to ensure efficient workflow.
6.Quality Improvement:
oParticipate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety and pharmacy services.
7.Professional Development:
oStay current with continuing education requirements and advancements in pharmaceutical science.
oAttend professional meetings and conferences to enhance knowledge and skills.
Qualifications:
·Education: Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited institution.
·Licensure: Valid pharmacist license in the state of practice.
·Experience: Previous experience in Retail, Hospital, or Clinical Pharmacy setting is preferred.
·Skills:
oStrong attention to detail and accuracy.
oExcellent communication and interpersonal skills.
oAbility to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals.
oProficiency with pharmacy software and technology.
Working Conditions:
·Retail setting
·Requires rotating evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.
·Will involve standing for extended periods and occasional lifting of supplies, up to 20 pounds.
·Exposure to chemicals and medications requires adherence to safety protocols.
