I know what you're thinking: isn't a gin fizz cocktail loaded with sugar? Sure the traditional ones are, but not this drink! It's low carb, sugar-free, and relatively low in calories compared to most cocktails. It's even got a little protein in there! Healthy cocktail is a bit of an oxymoron, but this is about as close as you're going to get. Plus you'll get a little bicep workout when you shake this frothy treat!
Don't forget to PIN it for later!
Supplies you'll need for the gin fizz cocktail recipe:
It's absolutely imperative that you have a shaker of some sort. If you don't have a traditional cocktail shaker, you can totally be resourceful and use your protein shaker bottle. Pretend you're having a boozy protein shake? It works the ingredients into a foamy froth just the same.
It's also nice to have a tool to juice the lime, but it's not necessary. If you don't have one, you can squeeze the lime just fine with your hand and the drink will taste exactly the same.
If you shake with ice, then you'll also want a strainer to help pour off your drink.
The Low Carb Gin Fizz Cocktail Recipe
Pour the gin, lime juice, and whites from one egg into the shaker. Instead of simple syrup, we're going to use a low carb sweetener to add a little sweetness to the drink and balance out the tartness from the lime. I used Lakanto Monkfruit sweetener, which is a blend of Erythritol and monk fruit extract. It has zero calories, no sugar, and it tastes fantastic. It's a favorite keto friendly sweetener of mine with no funky aftertaste. I added just a teaspoon to the cocktail and felt that was the perfect amount to nail the flavor of the gin fizz.
Next, we shake! This is the fun part, slash workout, depending on your views on physical exertion. To build the thick frothy head of the drink, you'll need to shake the drink for at least two minutes. Fun fact: there's a version of this drink called the Ramos Gin Fizz that requires 12 minutes of straight shaking, so feel free to step up your game and burn some extra calories by extending the amount of time dedicated to this step.
Once you've worked up a good sweat, pour the drink into a cup. Carefully pour club soda directly down the center of the glass, so you don't disturb the head. Keep pouring until the foam rises to the top of the glass. Enjoy your low carb gin fizz cocktail!

Great recipe!! Is this sweetener a better alternative to Swerve?? I've yet to try either yet. Can I use this one in baking as well?

I actually really love Swerve too, I think it would work well in the recipe. That was always my go-to until I tried the monkfruit kind. I hope you love the recipe! <3
