Friday Faves and a Berry-licious Recipe Round-Up (2024)

This week simply flew by. Maybe it’s because I was actually home for a stretch without my head in the clouds. Or could be that it was an “official” 4 day week. Or maybe it was because I’m not a 10 year old who can’t wait for the end of school to appear but I live with one.

Leftover pizza. What do you do with it? You can eat it cold. You can pick all of the good stuff off and leave the hardened cheese and wish you’d remembered to take it out of the cardboard container and put it in the fridge.

Last night my husband and my Smudge had a daddy daughter date and went to one of our favorite SLC pizzarias, Flatbread Neopolitan Pizza. My man likes it for the beer and Quattro Stagioni (four seasons) pizza, I dig it for the Chicken Arugula and Basil Salad and Smudge loves the build your own pizza for kids.

He decided to go off the rails and order the Quattro Formaggi with Fior di Latta, Fontina, Romano and Parmesan. I love that man.

With two pieces of leftover pizza on the table, Smudge declared, “Dad. You should take those home and put an egg on it for breakfast tomorrow.” I love that girl.

I know! Why didn’t I think of this? It’s a total Friday Fave.

While they were out causing a ruckus and snarfing down pies, I was at a press dinner for the lovely restaurant Riverhorse on Main in Park City, UT. As a first timer at the establishment, I was immediately impressed with it’s look, it is seriously one of the best designed, if not THE best designed restaurants in Park City. And the food was fresh, innovative and delish. My favorites were the North American Buffalo with a Huckleberry Compote according to co-owner and Chef Seth Adams, the only thing that will never go off the menu, the Utah Red Trout in a Pistachio Nut Crust with Pomegranate Fennel Salsa. And of course the dessert plate, with the best pink sugar rimmed chocolate milkshake.

Can you get over this selfie my Smudge took of herself this weekend with our 12 year old Chewie. She is just too, too much and oh, how I love her. Even more than the day she was born. For sure.

This weekend will be all about prepping for BIRTHDAY WEEK for my Smudge. I just can’t get over that it’s been 10 years. I only have 8 years left with her under my spell. And maybe 2 more where she’ll actually listen to me.

We’re deciding on whether to break with her traditional Birthday Pie Cake. It may or may not happen. But a whip cream fight is definitely on the sleep over docket. So, any birthday cake ideas, send them my way.

Speaking of lounging (we were right?) I bought this for Smudge’s birthday present next week. She’s been longing for one ever since we came home from Turks & Caicos.

Geez, I hope she doesn’t read her mom’s blog!
