100 Whole30 Paleo Recipes for the Instant Pot (2024)

Please share!

With the new year approaching, I’m contemplating anotherWhole30 challenge. I remember when I did my first one, I didn’t talk about it much because frankly, I was a little nervous I wouldn’t be able to complete it. But with God’s grace, some knowledgeable friends, and lots of awesome tips I found online, I was able to complete it with relative ease. So now I am excited to do it again. Why do it again?

(Wait! Before you keep reading, I want to let you know that at the bottom of this post is a giveaway for the Big Mama of the Instant Pots — the 8-quart Duo. So be sure to remember to enter before you click away!)

Anyway . . . back to my story.

The time around Thanksgiving and Christmas is the hardest time of year to stay on plan for me. And I end up feeling horrible with joint pain, fatigue, and increased headaches. The Whole30 challenge has worked well for me in the past to detox my system of all the bad stuff and jump start me back into feeling better from my autoimmune symptoms.

100 Whole30 Paleo Recipes for the Instant Pot (4)

100 Whole30 Paleo Recipes for the Instant Pot (5)I know that going back to do another 30 days (at least — I’m considering doing it for 90 days) and then reintroducing foods properly, will make a huge difference for me.

Something that I discovered the first time I did the Whole30 challenge that made a huge difference for me (and my family) was my Instant Pot. One of the things I find most challenging is making sure I cook dinner each night on plan for me, and with acceptable foods for my guys. Neither my husband or son are interested in doing the Whole30 challenge with me, but neither mind if I cooked a compliant meal for dinner each night. I know I can handle a little boredom in my meals, but I didn’t want to force them to eat salmon cakes and salad for dinner each night.

I had to make sure that I cooked delicious meals that satisfied them, while remaining Whole30 compliant, and easy, for me. Let me confess something to you right now. I’m not a great cook. Not even close. And I don’t really enjoy cooking either. So the last thing I wanted to do was spend long hours in the kitchen, cooking complicated meals.

Enter the Instant Pot.Are you familiar?

My husband gave me an Instant Pot for Christmas a couple of years ago. I’ll admit that at first, it intimidated me a little. I didn’t even open if for months after he gave it to me. But a few quick online tutorials, and a great Facebook group or two, and soon I was discovering the tremendous ease of use, and great convenience of this kitchen appliance.

What is an Instant Pot?

An Instant Pot is a smart electric pressure cooker. It’s safe, convenient and dependable, created for fast-paced, healthy family lifestyles. It is a 7-in-1 multi-functional cooker: pressure cooker, slow cooker, rice cooker, saute-er, yogurt maker, steamer, and warmer. Instant Pot may just become your new best friend. It’s certainly has become mine.

The Instant Pot is easy to use and allows you to customize programming with the touch of a button. This is not your mother’s pressure cooker! It’s both safe and easy to use, even if it looks a bit intimidating. Unlike other fast-cooking methods, Instant Pot retains healthy properties of your food, which is a huge plus when eating for health and wellness is your goal.

Moms with families on the go love using Instant Pot!For families doing Whole30, the Instant Pot is a dream. Today, I’m combining the two to bring you 100 Whole30-compliant recipes for the Instant Pot. Whether or not you are doing a Whole30 challenge, you’ll find these quick and healthy recipes helpful for getting your family’s dinner on the table.

FAQs

What does lo 30 mean on Instant Pot? ›

When your Instant Pot displays LO followed by a number, it means that the pressure cooker is in the 'Keep Warm' mode. The number followed by LO indicates how long it has been in that mode. LO:01 means that it has been in that mode for 1 minute.

How much does Instant Pot reduce cooking time? ›

Most things cook (at least) 60–70% faster in a pressure cooker than when using any other type of cooking. That doesn't count the prep time of course, or any time the oven, pot, or pressure cooker takes to come to temperature for the food to start real “cooking” though, or “resting” time in the pot for some foods.

What's the first thing I should cook in my Instant Pot? ›

When it comes to breaking your Instant Pot in, it's a good idea to start with some basic foods and simple meals you're already familiar with, then slowly expand your Instant Pot repertoire from there. Try making staples like eggs, sweet potatoes, rice, or lentils using just the pressure cooker function.

Why does my Instant Pot smell weird? ›

If you've soaked and scrubbed your Instant Pot and still smell last week's curry chicken, one part is to blame: the silicone sealing ring. Because it's made from silicone (which is prone to absorbing odors) and is the end-point for a lot of concentrated, super-hot steam, it can get pretty stinky.

Is keep warm the same as natural release? ›

Is Keep Warm the same as natural release? They are two separate things. The Keep Warm function allows the food to stay warm after pressure cooking is complete. While the Instant Pot is cooling down after pressure cooking is done, the inside pressure gets released slowly.

Can I use pyrex in an Instant Pot? ›

Your Instant Pot. A trivet. A sling (you'll need aluminum foil) An oven safe dish (like Pyrex or a Springform pan)

Can aluminum foil go in the Instant Pot? ›

The short answer is good news. It is generally safe to use aluminum foil in an Instant Pot, but it is important to use it properly to avoid damaging the appliance or creating a potential safety hazard.

What is the multigrain button on the Instant Pot? ›

Using the Rice and Multigrain buttons are similar to Porridge and Steam. If you're cooking white rice, you can simply press the Rice button. It's automatic, no need for the Plus or Minus buttons. If you're cooking brown rice or wild rice, though, you'll need to press the Multigrain button.

What is the disadvantage of Instant Pot? ›

Con– The Instant Pot uses steam under pressure to cook food and not everything is meant to be cooked in the Instant Pot. I attempted a crustless quiche which turned out well but it was too wet and moist to my liking and I prefer to cook it in the oven with dry heat.

What are the disadvantages of pressure cooking? ›

Disadvantages of cooking food in a pressure cooker

However, starchy foods may form acrylamide, a harmful chemical, when pressure cooked. Consumption of this chemical on a regular basis may lead to health issues like cancer, infertility, and neurological disorders.

How long to cook 4 lbs of meat in an Instant Pot? ›

The cooking time depends on how much beef you have. I like to assume 20 minutes for every pound of meat.

What is a 10 minute NPR Instant Pot? ›

X minute NPR = Do natural pressure release for X minutes, then do a quick release. You will see this used often as “5 minute NPR” or “10 minute NPR”. A 10 minute NPR means you release the pressure manually 10 minutes after the instant pot beeps.

What is the difference between NPR and quick release? ›

Use an automatic natural release (NPR) for soups, chilis, and oatmeals to let the pressure slowly release for up to 40 minutes. Opt for a manual quick release (QR) that takes 1 to 5 minutes if you want to avoid over-cooking delicate foods like fish, green beans, or pasta.

How do I know when natural release is done? ›

If a recipe calls for a natural release, you don't have to do anything. It's more of an inaction than action. Once the cook time counts down and the pot beeps indicating time is up, leave it alone. You'll know that the pressure has released once the float valve pops down into the lid, making a clicking sound.

How long is full natural release on Instant Pot? ›

Instant Pot natural release is when you allow the Instant Pot to cool down by itself, releasing steam slowly. When the food is done cooking, the Instant Pot will automatically release steam gradually until the float valve drops down. This could take up to 30 minutes.
